The 2009 Kay Cheever Award winner was Aleta Van Kampen!

Kay Cheever Award of Excellence

Kay Cheever, AWARD of EXCELLENCE is given to the entry judged as BEST of SHOW, by the Brookings Guild.

Kay Cheever was instrumental in founding Fiber Arts Guilds in South Dakota. In the 1980’s she and other interested fiber people started meeting in Brookings. From this group, the Brookings Guild, Cross Threads Guild and Prairie Fiber Arts Guild came about. Kay was a wonderful fiber artist and had a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia. Kay passed away in 2002.

(North Country Fiber Fair would like to thank the Brookings Guild for this monetary award)
