Juried Handspun Skein & Fiber Arts Competitions Rules

Entry Deadline: Saturday, Sept 20, 2008 by 8:00 am

  1. Entries must be created by hand (with the exception of machine knitting)
  2. Entries must be made of primarily (at least 50%) natural fibers.
  3. Entries must be identified as (A) entirely original design, or (B) commercial adaptation.
  4. Commercial kit items may not be entered.
  5. Identification label must be attached to the object, preferably with light stitching on the reverse side (lower corner if meant to be hung).
  6. Items should be ready for display (prepared for hanging, etc.)
  7. If an item can be fit in more than one category, the artist must decide in which category it is to be judged.
  8. Classes will be combined or divided as needed.

A fiber artist may show, but not receive, the Kay Cheever Award of Excellence two consecutive years.

Items will be spot juried by a committee for entrance. The committee reserves the right to deny entrance to pieces which they feel do not meet the requirements of the exhibition or which are not of exhibition quality.

The judge will award ribbons for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places in each category. Fewer places will be awarded if the judge deems it appropriate. Pieces will be judged both on workmanship and artistic qualities.

All entries remain on display until 5:00 pm Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008. All entries not removed by 5:30 pm will be mailed back if a self-addressed stamped mailer is provided. If someone else is picking up the items, please note on entry form. Entries not picked up as arranged will become property of NCFF.

Entries should be marked with sale price or NFS (not for sale). The NCFF is developing a permanent collection of pieces and money is available to purchase awards.

Entry forms and fees are due Monday, September 14, 2008. The items themselves may either be shipped to Shay Huhta, see address at the beginning of this section or hand delivered to North Country Fiber Fair on later than 8:00 am on Saturday, September 20th.

NCFF assumes no liability in regard to items entered being lost, stolen or damaged.
