Fiber Sandwich at NCFF
Do you have a zest for spinning one-of-a-kind yarn? Do you love texture and color? Are you adventurous and enjoy the thrill of exotic fibers? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you will enjoy the North Country Fiber Fair’s "Fiber Sandwich"!
A Fiber Sandwich is an assortment of donated fibers layered into a sandwich and then divided among a group of spinners for spinning. It is an opportunity for vendors to showcase their fibers, spinners to demonstrate their skills, and fundraising to support the fiber arts
Participants may donate 4 oz of washed fiber to be layered into a sandwich. If you wish to spin, you must supply your own spinning wheel or spindle, and carder if you wish to card your fibers. Fibers must be clean. Fibers may be carded or uncarded; roving or batts; dyed or natural colors, synthetics or natural fibers. Fibers may include wool, mohair, camel, llama, alpaca, angora, bison, bamboo, cashmere, silk - the combinations are unlimited!! Vendors, this is an opportunity to show case the many and varied fibers you have to offer. North Country Fiber Fair will recognize each vendor who participates in the Fiber Sandwich event.
Event Schedule and Auction: Saturday September 18, 2010: Donated fibers must be dropped off at the fiber sandwich area by 9:00 a.m. Saturday. The fibers will be layered and spinners may pick up their 4 oz. fiber sandwich anytime after 10:00 a.m. The fiber sandwich will be distributed on a first-come basis. Participating spinners will spin their sandwich in the spinning circle from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday to allow the public to witness the creation of these wonderful yarns! Sunday September 19, 2010: Skeins and any unspun sandwiches will be auctioned via silent auction starting at noon. Bidding will close at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Successful bidders may collect their items after 3:30 or make arrangements and pay for shipping of their items. Proceeds from the auction will be used to support promotion and education in all aspects of the fiber arts programs of the North Country Fiber
